I would love to be able to tell you something about this cave, but I can't, apart from describing it. The tourist information board in the village of Cong nearby simply said that it is a 'natural cave with a locked iron gate'. Well, any fool can see that! but why is it called Kelly's Cave?
Cut into the rocks is a flight of steps - covered in leaf mould and very slippy when I visited - that lead down about 4m to the cave entrance ... and the locked gate. It is a natural cave but t has been enhanced by the hand of man somewhat. There are internal steps too and a ledge around the base of the walls. It goes back about 20m (I think ... it was dark inside) and is 4m high and the same wide.
A curious place that I'd like to know more about.
