| Carrig - Stone Circle |
Carrig comes from the Irish 'carraig' = a rock, which is a slight understatement for this townalnd - or was once. Now I suppose it is more fitting as only this kerb really exists of the four or five cairns that once stood here.
The kerb is very thinly populated, 20m across, with a few stones in the centre that probably denote a former passage.

I recently saw some new photos of this site and decided to take another look. The site seems to have been cleared extensively, but I'm not at all sure if it was excavated. Several stones have certainly been re-erected and much more of the internal structures are visible.
