The south is primarily wedge tomb country and so it is no surprise that this court tomb seems to have inherited a few features from wedge tombs, the most obvious of which is its u-shaped kerb and cairn.
The court yard is very narrow and almost funnel like. It is formed by stones about 1.3m tall and the court itself has a paved floor. The gallery is 3.5m long and segmented into two chambers by a single slab protruding from one side. The back is square (like a wedge tomb) rather than boat-shaped like most court tombs.
This is one of the megalithic sites that boasts a car park and picnic tables. Unfortunately, it has been seen fit to enclose with Leylandii trees, which totally detract from its glory.
When this site was excavated evidence for a series of wooden posts was found encircling the cairn about 2m from the kerb.

I was never happy with the photos I took here so an early morning trip with clear(ish) skies promised sounded like a good plan. However, by the time I reached the car park below the tomb the sky had clouded over and it was drizzling.
I still went up to take a GPS reading and to try and take some more photos, but the rain was too bad for me to do what I had intended. The low clouds and drizzle did clear enough though to allow me to see that the tomb's axis does not align on the summit of Cullaun Mountain (the easternmost of the Slievefelim range) as I had suspected, but rather on where its eastern edge levels out into a little plateau.
