Visit Notes

Sunday, 13th October 2002

Situated in a field, just 40m from the road, opposite the modern church to the south of Fenagh itself is this very intriguing monument. Beutifully situated on a small drumlin the 7m long gallery asks more questions that it provides answers.

I must admit that when I first saw it I thought it was a court tomb, the rear of the gallery appearing to taper in a boat-like fashion and the portico appearing much wider than the entrance to the three chambers of the gallery. I say three chambers, but it may be just two chambers separated by a gap or a missing chamber.

At the time of this visit the site was not totally overgrown, but enough to obscure some of the stones making ity a little harder to work it out.
