There are several high crosses at Ferns Abbey. Most of them are plain, but over 2m tall. The other is now just a stump, 60cm high, with some beautiful geometric patterns visible.
This decorated cross is said to mark the burial place of Dermot Mac Morrough, a king of Leinster who died in 1171 ce and his son who died four years later.
