One final stop on the way home. Apparently, this was the first court tomb in Ireland to be excavated and is now seemingly forgotten due to its proximity with the much more accessible Pat Kearney's Big Stone (County Down) portal tomb.
Well if you go to see Goward Dolmen make the effort to get to this one. The 5m gallery remains in good order, but lacks any roof stones. The court consists of very strong looking stones forming a near perfect semi-circle. In fact they are so good that before excavation it was thought to be a stone circle.
The overall impression here is that this one was built to last. A lot of court tombs look fragile and weak, but this one certainly does not.
