| Banagher - Cross |
This is a sweet little church notable for a few things. There is a nice Romanesque window, two carved capitals and a heavily lintelled, square doorway.
In the grave yard there is a large shrine-tomb - the tomb of a saint in the shape of a house - that is 1.9m tall and 3m x 1.6m in plan. This has a steeply pitched roof. There is no hole for reaching in and touching the saints bones in this one.
At the east end of the yard is a plane cross and beyond that (actually moved in front of a nearby barn at the time of this visit) is a bullaun stone with one large and one shallow bullaun cup.

There aren't many good tomb-shrines left, so I've wanted to come back and see this one for a long time. Today was the perfect opportunity. I'd forgotten how large it is! Hopefully the photos I took today will show it off a little better than the previous ones.
