Finding these stones was a joy! I sat at the gate to the field and watched a fox sunbathing for 15 minutes before he saw or heard me and went scampering off. The stones are tall (over 2m) and slim in relation to their height. Next to them in the field is a very strange concrete structure that kills the atmosphere while at the same time adds and accentuates their stone beauty.
I have read that these stones align perfectly with Fourknocks cemetery and possess significant winter solstice alignments.

I was on the way to Termonfeckin and I thought I'd take the opportunity to pop back in to see these stones. With foot and mouth now not an issue I thought it worth the walk across the field to get some closer pictures.
These stones are big! The tallest is easily 2.5m tall and the shorter one exceed 2m. It is a real shame that the central stone of this once three stone alignment is missing.

Take the R167 east from Drogheda for about 6km and follow the signs to Baltray off to the right. When in Baltray village park at a pub called The 19th Hole. From here walk about 250m along a farm track at 90' to the road. The stones are in a field to the right.
