Visit Notes

Sunday, 9th June 2002

This little well contains one of the Seven Wonders of Fore - a tree from which the "wood will not burn".

Sprouting from within the water is an ash tree (surprise, surprise!) upon which people tie many things or hammer coins into to make offerings to the water. I'm not sure I want to know what the person who tied a tampon to it was after!

The well offers superb views across the marshes to the abbey itself.
