Nestled away in a hedge on the south east corner of the cross roads in Loughgur village is this odd standing stone. Although quite singular now it does look more like a stone that would have been used as part of a tomb rather than a ëstanding stoneí.
If you didn't know this stone was here you would never notice it and I only stopped off because it had stopped raining while we were passing on our way home.
It is 1.6m wide, 1.4m tall and just 30cm deep. It now forms part of the boundary to a private residence.
