The Spectacles was the name given to these two low circles of stones on the bank to the east of Lough Gur from their appearance on the OS map. When they were excavated only one of the rings proved to be manmade with the other being a natural feature.
The one artificial structure is the base of a round house and several other structures were uncovered nearby as well as ancient field systems.
Sadly there is little to see here from ground level as the overall plan is quite extensive.

From Limerick take the R512 and then the R514 following the signs for The Lough Gur Centre. Drive as far up the car park as you can. Walk to the two huts of the visitors centre and go up the path. At the entrance to the compound turn left and this site is just 50m along.
