I'm really not sure about this stone. I want to believe, I really do.

The reason I hope this (unmarked) stone is genuine is because it is the focal point of the little village of Donard AND it is right next to a Catholic shrine.

I really hope that there is a continuence of site usage here. Lovely, square sectioned stone too about 1.4m tall with a slight lean.

I had to go back and check out this stone to see how good or poor the ogham actually is .... it's poor. On the north face, running down the left hand corner there are faint traces of the script.

Directions

This stone now stands in the center of Donard. When entering the town from the N81 head right at the post office/general store and you will see the stone on the right after about 100m.

Miscellanea

This is the ogham stone that is marked on the OS maps as being elsewhere in the village. I am told that it has been moved several times. Apparently the ogham inscripition is on the opposite side to the one viewed and very feint. Noon sun is recommended to see it. Thanks to Jim Dempsey for pointing this out to me.
