| Timoney Stones - Cullaun - Standing Stone |
I have spilt the Timoney stones into two sections. The ones on Timoney Hill (these are sign posted) and the ones on Cullaun.
I knew that there were a lot of stones here ( there are over 70 dots on the OS), but even that didn't prepare me for what I was about to see. There is reportedly over 300 stones here!! I drove up the track, something I would not recommend and a sign at the bottom discourages. You can not see this sign until you come back down the track.
In the first field on the right sit around twelve stones mainly in small groups of around three, but there are some single ones. This in itself would make a good trip!
The next field along on the right holds the largest concentration I saw. There are a few groups of three, an alignment of six stones that is bisected by the track and what could be a 75m diameter stone circle, but there are too many stones missing to tell for sure.
The field opposite has the continuation of the alignment and a couple of solitary stones. One field further along on the left has several large stones that seem to be singular.

From Roscrea take the N62 south. After the N7 island take the first left and continue to the next junction. Turn right and continue until you reach a fork in the road. Take the right fork and carry on until the road takes a sharp right. Turn left here and continue for about 600m. There is a sign pointing up a track to the Timoney Stones. Park here (if you can work out how) and walk up the track and prepare yourself.
