I didn't actually find the well. I think this is because the OS map has swapped the grid ref of the church and well around. This would mean that the well is in the graveyard where the grave slabs are.
From Mountrath head east along the N7 for about 3.2km. Look out for a layby on the right in front of a church. I think the actual well is in the graveyard on the opposite side of the road however.
