I was surprised to see how well preserved this structure is as I walked past on the way to the nearby bullaun stone. So much so that I took a closer look when I passed it on the way back.
The mound for the motte is quite low - about 3m and the ditch around it is quite narrow. I think this may originally have been a barrow that was reused for the fortification.
The earthworks marking the extent of the bailey are in very good condition, which is a rarity. These extend out to the north of the motte for about 100m.
