This could be my only visit to a stoney thing during May 08. I suppose it's fitting that it's a bullaun stone.
It took me ages to find this one. I walked back and forth along the road and up side streets in vain. I thought that it might have been moved to the nearby church so I walked up to that. I was surprised to see a map outside the church that mentioned the bullaun. Annoyingly, the bullaun was marked where I'd been looking!
So, I headed back down the road. Then I saw it - cemented into the wall retaining wall of a stream. Its top is flush with the top of the wall and the garden lawn behind it. The bullaun was full of grass cuttings, too.
It looks like a limestone slab that has been squared off into a rectangular slab to fit into the wall. There is a single 30cm diameter bullaun set centrally.
