This stone was thought to be lost and its location was only recently rediscovered by chance. It used to be in a field hedge some 3km from where it now resides in a yard. The stone features on Anthony Weir's website and has teased me for over 6 years. I've looked for it so often and I feared that it had been buried or covered by field clearance and would never be seen again.
This boulder is 1.2m long and 60cm wide. The carvings cover the whole of one surface and include a group of three large, deep cup-marks two of which are wrapped by a figure of eight ring, a line of deep cup-marks with rings and many other cup-marks. There is a group of six cup-marks that are arranged in two lines like the six side of a die. It's a beautiful, beautiful piece of carving.
