Visit Notes

Sunday, 30th December 2007

You can see this little wonder from the roadside parking area below. It sits proudly on the top of a small, sharp knoll. Sadly, some of this 'sitting tall' effect is caused by the fact that the front of the knoll has been quarried away such that the tomb's small chamber now perches precariously on its edge. This quarry makes visiting the site quite dangerous, so watch your footing if you venture up to it.

Reaching the tomb is quite easy, but the quarry and thick gorse bushes around on side of it make it difficult to see properly. The capstone is still in place, supported by three orthostats - there were probably five originally. One kerbstone is visible to the west of the chamber and this is nearly as tall as the top of the capstone.
