I think this would have been a very pretty Romanesque church once upon a time, but sadly it has been robbed and raided over the years and only a small amount of decoration remains. The only in situ decoration is on the door jambs, which consists of a herringbone type pattern up a column either side of the door.
Above the new (and horrible) concrete lintel over the doorway there is a nice collection of heads mounted into the wall. These include monsters and people, one of which looks like a king or 'de-mitred' bishop. To one side of these there is a very interesting beastie carved in relief.
To one side of the door there is a nice cross-slab and around the side of the church there is a nice sundial.
The poor preservation of this site should not put any off visiting this lovely site. The church is located in a fantastic position among rolling fields and seems miles from anywhere, despite being over the road from Clone House.
