This massive stone was moved to this location, at the entrance to Beechwood Drive, from the nearby famine site at Ballinstraw. It has its own little enclosure in the centre of a green. Do not mistake the hollowed out stone at the base of the nearby signpost for the bullaun stone.
The stone is over 1m x 1m in plan and stands nearly 1m high. Although freestanding now it was presumably earthfast when at its original location.
There are two large bullauns/basinsin the upper surface. One is about 30cm across while the other is 40cm in diameter. At the time of my visit the bullauns were full of gravel, presumably taken from the area around the stone by local kids.
