On Doagh Isle there is a lot of rock art recorded. A lot of the panels have become overgrown, or were destroyed in the late 1980s, but there are still many to be found. Due to very bad weather I only managed a few of them. The panels here have a unique design - a round-cornered rectangle with parallel lines carved across it, known as a cartouche.
This location has two visible panels. The western one has a series of close parellel lines. The other is similar, but incredibly unusual. It is a rounded recatnagle filled with parallel lines, but in the centre there is a cup and ring motif. This design is much bigger than the cartouches found on other panels.
It is possible to still see the pecking marks in the grooves on both panels, so I don't think they've been exposed for very long. The lesser panels seems to be on a route taken by a tractor, so it could be best that it becomes overgrown again to protect it.
