| Meelaghans II - Bullaun Stone |
Despite the somewhat sterile feeling to the surrounding fields this stone is wonderful. This multiple bullaun stone is hidden away in a small copse. Surprisingly, the top of teh stone is 30cm below the level of the ground around it. There was once a small wall around it, but only faint traces of this can be seen today.
There are six bullauns, five of which are quite sizable - 25cm upwards. The central bullaun is just 15cm across and 10cm or so deep. There are some other depressions spread around the stone, which may be where other basins were started.
