I'm not even sure why I bothered to look for this one. The Wicklow Archaeological Inventory doesn't give a grid reference for it, which usually means that the site wasn't found. Anyway, I'd recently read that thhe stone was moved to the foot of Thomas Moore's bust. Surely it may still be there.
It is! Well, it's not next to the bust, but about 15m away. It is located in a picnic area right at the junction of the two rivers (the Avonmore & Avonbeg Rivers - which is why the place is called The Meetings of the Waters.)
I don't know how the compilers of the invventory didn't manage to find it. Many other people seem to have found it judging by the amount of fag-butts floating in the bullaun - Perhaps it should now become known as St. Kevin's Ashtray!
The stone is about 40cm high and seems to have been broken off at one end. There is a single, centrally-placed bullaun, 30cm in diameter and about 15cm deep.
To find this stone follow the signs to The Meetings of the Waters. Park when you reach the Meetings pub. The picnic area is to the north of the pub on the far side of the bridge. Walk down the steps or ramp and continue to the water's edge. You can't miss the bullaun stone.
