These stones were brought to my attention by Chris Corlett a couple of years ago. I tried at the time to find them, but failed miserably. A recent article in Archaeology Ireland magazine, by Chris, about these stones spurred me on to trying again. Sadly, the article didn't actually give any positional information.
These two stones are a male/female pairing unusually aligned north-south, with the northern stone being the female one. When Chris Corlett visited these stones he noticed that the Devil's Glen, a deep V-shaped valley, is due east of these stones. This could mean that the stones were erected here to mark the Equinox sun rise through the Glen.
Considering they could mark such an important event they aren't very impressive (although they are very nice.) The tallest is only slightly over 1m tall and if you get down to their height you can no longer see The Devil's Glen. The location of the stones is quite unusual anyway, being in a saddle between two peaks.
Liam Price mentioned these stones and referred to them as 'The Gossip Stones'. He also said there was a bullaun nearby, but I couldn't find it.
