When I sat down to write notes on site I was not very complementary about it and I don't think I can be too different now. This well is covered by a pretty hideous modern concrete thing with a whitewashed concrete facade. The rear is possibly a cairn-type structure, but it's hard to say. I don't like modern wells and well houses, so I am bound not to like it.
I stopped by here for three reasons: firstly it is signposted, secondly I need to get more sites in the Longford section and thirdly because I wanted to see how it related to Corn Hill (County Longford). It doesn't! The well is situated on the northwest facing slopes of a low ridge and Corn Hill is beyond the ridge. Only the huge transmitter tells of the hill's presence.
