This is not the famous portal tomb at Kilclooney More (County Donegal). As I approached I knew I wasn't going to find something as spectacular as it better known neighbour, but I didn't expect something quite so small.
Part of the illusion of smallness is caused by much of the cairn sill being around the monument. Three walls of the 1m tall chamber still exist, upon which the capstone still rests. It's impossible to say which way it faced or even upon what alignment it was on, beacuse each of the wall slabs are almost identical. This is a nice little tomb, though and well worth checking out. Is it a portal tomb as catagorised in the Donegal Inventory? I'm not so sure. what remains today has the appearance of a megalithic kist to me.
