I wasn't actually sure how to classify this site within the limitations of the Megalithomania structure, because the monument here is quite unusual. The OS map simply says "Standing Stones" and indeed that is what it looks like at first glance.
Just 5m from the road two stones stand aligned east-west. The east stone is the tallest at 1.4m or so. The smaller stone is about 1m tall.
While walking around these stones I noticed that the ground either side of the large stone was slightly raised. Looking more closely I could see that this raised area continued around in a circle that surrounds the smaller stone. Hang on - a circular enclosure with an entrance at the east? It's a little henge! WOW!!!
This henge is very small: just 5m or so in diameter and the small stone is not quite central. The larger stone stands just outside the entrance.
