Now it's just possible that this stone was originally from one of the nearby tombs, but I don't think so. Its shape and east-west alignment along the valley say otherwise. This stone is not marked on the OS map and so was a bit of a bonus.
The stone is shaped like a spearhead with the point snapped off and stands 1m or so tall. The huge puddle by its base indicate that it is used as a scratching post these days and I'm surprised it's still standing to be honest.
It stands in the saddle of a low spur which leads to the raised area where I spotted another monument that is not on the OS map.
