This beautiful stone stands nearly 4m tall on the south shore of the inlet beyond Lackan Strand in the beautiful Lackan Bay.
It is said that St. Patrick erected this stone. From the earthworks around it I can certainly believe that it is not much older than the early Christian period, but who can be sure of such things?
A visit here could be a day out! Access to the field is actally via the beach and so the kids could play while dad looks at the stone. Or, a nice romantic stroll around the sands with a loved one, listening to the surf breaking on the strand, would be an option.
