Visit Notes

Ok. So I was supposed to be going home, but I saw a sign to Ballynahown Wedge Grave and decided to check it out. I really shouldn't have, because it took me around some very windy and narrow lanes, which took ages to drive along.

When I arrived at the spot where the signs pointed off the road to the tomb I parked and started the long, long climb. When I eventually saw the tomb I was amazed. Amazed at how poor it is. You have to wonder why some of these are signposted sometimes.

The remains constist of a roofslab supported by the two wall stones.

The tomb does offer spectacular views over Bantry Bay, though and the mountains that rise up to the north of the site ensure your attention is thrust that way.
