Visit Notes

Sunday, 5th September 2004

I was heading around to see the standing stone and wedge tomb in Kilmackowen townland when I saw the signs for 'Caheravart Eraly Settlement' so I followed them.

A short walk across two boggy fields leads you to a very overgrown site. It's impossible to tell what else was once here, but there are many low grave markers in the grass and brambles ready to trip you up. Erected in the centre of these is a plain cross.

The site is on a south facing slope and built on the top of a flat shelf formed by a rock outcrop.
