For many years now I have wanted to see the amazing Romanaesue doorway of Clonfert Cathedral. I recently read that restoration work has been undertaken on it, so I went to see what it looked like. Unfortunately I had thought that I'd read the work had been completed, but it hasn't. The door is still mainly hidden by scaffolding and green mesh.
The tiers of the arch are fairly visible, so I settled for taking some detail photos. This was part of my plan anyway, because most photos of it are usually full shots. Although the hooded doorway is fantastic it is nice to see bits of it close up.
I will be back when the work is finished, but this looks like it could be quite a long time.
