There is some debate as to whether this round tower was ever finished mainly caused by the holes in the stonework that appear all around it. These are thought to be the holes where the wooden scaffolding was held up.

The truncated tower stands next to a church and a graveyard. The church is oddly filled up with rubble to a height of 1.5m. The two are just 100m from a stoney beach on the north side og Galway Bay. I actually walked across this beach to reach the site and the smell of the sea air was fantastic.

The door is a square-topped, plain affair, and just under 2m from the ground and faces east. Above it is a rather large window, now partially bricked up. The tower itself is just 10m tall.
