Visit Notes

An electric fence stopped me getting right up to this tomb. All that appeared to remain is the circle of kerb stones an possibly an orthostat or two. Some of the stones look quite big and still form a circle resembling more of a henge now.

How wrong from 40m away can you be! The stones I had seen on my last visit were a massive heap of field clearance. The tomb itself is tucked away 50m beyond in the corner of the field.

This is a lovely little portal tomb, the capstone of which has slipped off the portal stones and now rests horizontally on the chamber, resembling a megalithic ironing board. The chamber is surrounded by cairn to a height of 50cm and internally measures 1.8m tall, 2m long and 1.2m wide. The capstone is very thin and around 2m square.

A very picturesque tomb in an unfortunately overgrown corner of a field, but very worth a visit.
