Why on earth have these two stones not featured in any books or on any web site before now? They were a very, very pleasant surprise indeed. We had assumed that they were in a field near to the church, we certainly didn't expect to find a 3m tall monster stone 5m from the church door!

The stone at the east end of the church looks as if it has been attacked and that someone has tried to destroy it.

These two stones are part of a huge ring of stones that encircles the nearby Knock Layd Mountain. With a 4km diameter this could be the world's largest stone circle!

I was driving past and the weather was so good (it had been hailing 30 minutes before, but now the sun was shining!) I stopped off to have a look at these stones and to look back at Knocklayd Mountain where I'd just come from.

The modern church against the ancient standing stones is still an odd sight.
